Looking Ahead:
New Congregational Transformation Bible Studies
On
Sunday, January 22 we began a new four-week congregational
transformation Bible study titled “A People of Salt and Light:
Jesus’ Model for Community.”The Bible study opportunities are Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. taught by Mike Holland, Wednesdays at 11:45 a.m. taught by Rick Shannon and 7:00 p.m. taught by Gale Oakes, and a flexible date and time taught by Sandy Weigt - call her to participate.
This Bible study is particularly preparing us for a planned congregational vision retreat in the spring and everyone is encouraged to participate.
Lenten Wreath Readers and Candle Snuffers
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday on February 22. Families and
individuals willing to lead the Lenten wreath portion of Sunday morning
worship are needed. Please let Marcia Holman know of your
willingness to help, or sign up on the sheet in the Concourse.
The first Sunday in Lent is February 26.Winter Weather Cancellation Policy
Although
we prefer not to have to cancel worship, sometimes winter weather makes
it necessary. So we do have a plan in place for getting the word
out if worship is cancelled.When Pastor Marilyn has to cancel worship, she will do the following: send an email, put a cancellation notice on the website, and change the answering machine by 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning to indicate the cancellation.
If you are at all unsure about whether or not to come to church, please check your e-mail, check the website or call the church. Above all, play it safe.
MOM Top Ten Needs
Middleton Outreach Ministry is now asking its member churches
to collect items from the Top Ten list for the food pantry. MOM's current Top Ten includes: cereal,
canned fruit (all types), canned tuna, canned peaches, canned pears,
sugar, cooking oil, spaghetti sauce, spaghetti noodles, and macaroni
and cheese. Always needed as well are bedding and towels.
Also, the MOM food pantry is now allowing clients to receive food as often as needed, and any extra gifts of non-perishable food items, personal care items, or financial donations to purchase food will be very much appreciated. And MOM is desperately in need of paper and plastic bags.
